Hypnotherapy was my path all along
I have always been a sensitive and empathetic person, and have spent my whole life supporting others, I just didn’t know the exact best way to do that. Every workplace I’ve been in I’ve set up and joined support groups: mental health, wellbeing, mentoring, diversity and inclusion, whatever meant I could give back and create a happier, friendlier environment for others to thrive.
It was only later on in my life that I realised Hypnotherapy was what I was meant to do! It is the perfect direct way to help others live a happier and more fulfilling life. I have been using the skills that make me so good at what I do my whole life. This soul purpose was so within me that I was doing it without even fully understanding what it was.
As a Hypnotherapist, I believe you need to do your own healing work before you can help others. Just like you need to ‘put your own oxygen mask on first’. And, I recognised this long before my Hypnotherapy training; I saw that my internal programming was not aligning with the person I wanted to be, and so my behaviour was not how I wanted to behave.
This disconnect led me down many pathways of counselling, therapy, mediation, spirituality, and eventually self-hypnosis, which led me to design my own personal toolkit for living my dream life.
Through these techniques I was able to escape many toxic environments, fall in love, set up my own business and move into my dream home, which was all possible from achieving the 3 Ss: self-belief, self-worth and self-love. The Journey to Hypnotherapy
Graphic Design, Marketing & Events in the Corporate World
After qualifying in Graphic Design, I fell into Marketing when I realised I had an affinity for customer service and clear communication. Graphic Design is all about communicating a message to an audience. Marketing & Event work went one step further by having a more connected people element to it. With Graphic Design I felt disconnected from the viewers of my work. Marketing is about anticipating people’s needs, behaviour, thoughts and desires. Events are about welcoming others and creating a space of community.
Life Lesson: Always listen to what YOUR heart tells you
I climbed the corporate ladder in London, thinking this was what I wanted to do. However, this was due to being very susceptible to outside opinions. Once I started to question what I really wanted, it started to come apart. Plus, the Neurodiverse side to me I have been unknowingly battling with was starting to make itself really known.
Taking a leap of faith: becoming my own boss
So, I went self-employed. I became my own boss so that I could learn about myself, get to know myself and learn how to give myself the most respect in the form of creating self-care routines, hobbies and boundaries. I also wanted to work in a safe and comfortable environment, one where I could control variables like the lighting, temperature and smells. This helped me learn that my feelings are valid, and as long as they weren’t hurting anyone, it was fine for me to do the things that helped me thrive.
